What should I do if I think there’s a problem with my legal paperwork?

If you think there is something wrong with paperwork you’ve finalized using Clerky, we’ll do our best to help you fix the issue. Please contact us before taking any steps to try to fix the problem.

If you’ve made a mistake…

Depending on what kind of mistake you’ve made, we may have invitation-only products you can use to try and address the mistake. Even if we don’t, we’ll do our best to provide you with information you can use to decide how to proceed.

The most important thing is to contact us before taking any steps to try to fix the problem. Trying to fix the problem before contacting us will introduce more complexity, which may limit the suggestions we can offer and will result in a much slower response (since it’ll take us longer to figure out what is going on). Also, please note that we offer assistance in this area only as a courtesy, so we may be a bit slower to respond in the first place.

If you think we’ve done something wrong...

We hate to be immodest, but it’s unlikely that we’ve done something wrong. We’re run by top-tier startup attorneys who started Clerky specifically to help founders avoid problems from using low-quality lawyers and other online services. Many thousands of our customers have had their paperwork carefully scrutinized by other top-tier startup attorneys without issue, as part of onboarding them as new clients, venture capital financings, acquisitions, and even IPOs.

Nevertheless, if you think we’ve done something wrong, please contact us before taking any steps to try to fix the problem, even if you are working with a lawyer.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen a few convincing but unscrupulous lawyers lead their clients to fix non-existent problems. Much like with unnecessary surgical procedures, fixing non-existent problems in legal paperwork often creates actual problems. If you contact us first, we’ll be able to provide you with information that can help you avoid that. Of course, in the unlikely event that we actually have made an error of consequence, we’ll do our best to help fix that.
