What should I do if a lawyer says there’s a problem with the legal paperwork I did on Clerky?

It is extremely unlikely that you will need to fix paperwork completed on Clerky, if you followed all the instructions and didn’t make any typos.

Clerky was founded in part precisely to help startups get their paperwork done correctly the first time. Our founders are experienced Silicon Valley startup attorneys who saw how their clients tried to save money with online services, DIY, or low-quality lawyers, only to have to pay a ton of money to later fix problems with their legal paperwork. They started Clerky to fix this.

So if a lawyer is saying there is a problem with the paperwork you did on Clerky, first take a look to see if it’s due to a typo or missing one of our instructions. If not, please reach out to us before you take any steps to fix the purported problem. Unfortunately, some of our customers have paid lawyers to fix problems that did not exist. This is very disturbing to us, and we want to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Of course, if the problem is our fault (extremely unlikely, but theoretically possible), we’ll help you fix it.

Even if the problem isn’t our fault, we want to make sure you’re not overpaying for any corrective actions. So if the solution the lawyer suggests is expensive, feel free to reach out to us. We’d be happy to let you know if what they’re charging is reasonable.
